The official route is 4400
miles, but could be as short as 3200 or as long as 5000:
* There are 1200 miles of optional shortcuts to allow 4 easy days (August 17, 18, 19, or 21) for problems or sightseeing (you'd take small penalties but still be a finisher). * Other options may allow a 5000 mile total, but are offered for personal goals with no scoring incentive. Return support is not included, but organizers will transport cycle gear back to Seattle at no cost and motorcycles for $200. Southbound options include driving, shipping (see Wrightway Auto Carriers), or the Alaska ferry from Haines. |
