Each new Alcan helps
us remember absent friends who won't pass our way again. Some participated
in a single event, most returned many times. Some died of natural
causes, others as a result of the restless forces that made them such memorable
teammates and companions in our journeys.
The 2012 Alcan is dedicated
to Gary Diebolt and
Al
Schmit.
Gary (2009) was our best friend and driving companion since 1979, and a
long-time Alcan, RASC and SCCA organizer. Al (2010) was a tireless
competitor in early Alcans, and in 1980 competed against Diebolt &
Hines at Mexico's Rally Internacional de las 24 Horas (a great event that
inspired the 1984 Alcan).
